100th Day

Tomorrow is the 100th day of school. Only 80 more to go...wahooooo! This is a big deal in Kindergarten because of the "100 Day" project. Each student is supposed to create a project that represents 100 of something. The projects are all displayed in the main foyer area of the school and they have a 100th day celebration in class. A lot of projects are 100 pieces of food. Goldfish, cheerieos, lollipops and hershey kisses seem to be popular each year. This year I saw two cakes with 100 candles. We thought long and hard for Connor's project. I didn't want to do what everyone else does (a lot of the projects kind of look the same or look like they took all of about five minutes to throw together). We brainstormed together and came up with..."Me at 100 different places in Harrison Township".

Harrison Township is made up of three towns...Mullica Hill, Richwood and Ewan, so we took a couple of hours on two days and drove around the township stopping to take pictures of Connor in front of 100 places. Connor and I had fun doing it, especially when we decided to jump out of the car in the middle of intersections and streets. Safety? Who cares about a little dangerous traffic when you've got a school project on the line. At each location, Connor posed in front of a sign so that you could tell where he was. We went to businesses, all three post offices, the police station, the fire stations, development entrances, entering the township signs, and random road signs. He put all of the pictures into a photo album, labeled it and project done! So much more fun and creative then gluing 100 pieces of food to poster board (no offense if you did that and are reading this...I'm sure it turned out great).

  3. Can I tell you I love that! After teaching kindergarten for five years I think the majority of the 100 day projects had food glued to paper :)
